Turkey RoHS vs EU RoHS

Turkey's Regulation on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment was published by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in Official Gazette No. 32055 on December 26, 2022. It is modeled on EU RoHS (Directive 2011/65/EU).

How Turkey RoHS compares with EU RoHS

  • Substances - the same 10 substances as EU RoHS 3: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB, PBDE and four phthalates (DEHP, BBP, DBP, DIBP). Limits are 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials, 0.01% for cadmium.
  • Dates - most provisions applied from February 1, 2023; the phthalate restriction, the EU Declaration of Conformity and CE marking provisions applied from January 1, 2024.
  • Transition - the phthalate restriction does not apply to cables or spare parts for repairing, reusing or upgrading equipment placed on the market before January 1, 2024.
  • Marking - CE marking and a Declaration of Conformity, as in the EU.
